This database is an excellent resource for finding literature on education resources. Most of the medical education articles that you find in PubMed can also be found in ERIC.
- ERIC provides research that goes beyond the scope of medicine
- Use ERIC to find literature about learning theories and examples of how education principles are being applied
- In addition to articles, ERIC also contains literature from books, dissertations, essays, conferences, book reviews, reports. PubMed only offers articles.

Search tips:
- Use the "Advanced Search" tab
- When typing in search terms, be sure to select the appropriate options to the right, ie – keywords, anywhere, descriptors, title, abstract, etc…)
- When viewing interesting abstracts, look to see what “Descriptors” were used to categorize the article
- Jot down the descriptors you’d like to search
- Start a new Advanced Search – use the descriptors to combine different concepts of your research question – be sure to select the “Descriptors” option in the dropdown menus if it applies to the terms you typed into that line
